In case you thought that "Super" was an adjective or an epithet related to "Besse", let me clear this up: "Super Besse" is the real name of a real town. Well, not quite town: it's in fact a ski station, "the best ski station in the Massif Central" according to Montagne Leaders. I would add: "also the only one". I'm a little bit ironic here, I admit :)... Super-Besse is a perfectly fine place, just don't expect that wild vertiginous Alpine look. Sheltered by the mellow slopes of the Massif Central between 1350-1600 m altitude, Super-Besse is a great option for a Sunday hike between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Or a showshoeing initiation! :))
Here are some pictures taken during our 5 km showshoeing walk in the super fog of Super Besse.
